Something I discovered when doing gravel cycling; the smell of nature. I've been a roadie for whole my life, just getting into gravel this year. When you pass by fields of flowers like in the picture, you get a sensory smell overload (in a good way). There is nothing to take away that smell, unlike on the road, where something like this would be killed off by all the car exhausts. Graveling make your senses working overtime.

Yeah I was a bit of a gravel-doubter for awhile until had an experience like this. Going 40 or 50kph down a gravel road in the middle of absolute nowhere is incredible.
There’s a couple of reasons I like off-roading more, and the smell of nature is one of them.
The colours, the smells, the feeling of not being surrounded by people polluting (I’m no saint, I pollute like everyone, but it’s nice escaping it for a couple of hours)
The moment I hit the road that takes me out of the city I already start feeling relaxed. It’s amazing.

yup, my main reasoning of getting into gravel over road is the lack of cars, the natured covered trails are a plus too (until you bike into a cloud of gnats)
