I have bike for like a month, made like 150km with the bike, and yesterday, 10 minutes in pedalling uphil (asfalt), pedal got hard, like something was blocking it. I stopped, tried paddeling with hands and shifting gears and it worked, but there was some "clank" sound every few rotations. I go back on the bike stard pedalling, and after few pedal rotations, chain falls off. Inspected the chain and found this:

Chain was lubed 2 times with Muc-off Dry lube since I got the bike. Although the bike looks dirty, the previous ride was gravel/asfalt and the chain was wiped with cloth and re-lubed before this ride. Also, so far I didn't hit anything, or fall etc.

Its quite confusing as I never experienced chain failure before. Was geard up for tube patching, and the first failure I get is the chain? Could I be doing something wrong?

So chain should be: SHIMANO SLX CN-M7100 118 LINK

Could be a faulty chain or a fake. If you got it in a bike shop, I would bring it there and get the chain changed under warranty.

Either damaged during installation or manufacturing defect. It’s not supposed to happen even after thousands of kms.

Just want to clarify : you said the chain fell off but the crack you’re showing wouldn’t cause this, did you put it back together to take the picture, or is there something else going on with the drivetrain ?
