My podiatrist told me I had a neuroma, and suggested I get wider shoes to help with that. For a CYA, he wrote a prescription for my wife to see (still not covered by FSA, though).
I got a pair of Lake CX239s, Wide. Figured since I ride nearly everyday, that I may as well be comfortable (I’m coming from a pair of Specialized Torch 3.0s). Hoping to reduce the pain in my feet, and the sharp shooting pain from my foot to my knee.
Has anyone else gone from “normal” shoes to wide? It’s definitely a different feeling, but wasn’t sure if there were any gotchas when making the change. Probably the only issue I have is the heel being a little loose. But I expect my food to swell and take up the space during rides.
Please be nice to my hairy legs…my wife said I had to quit cycling if I shaved them.

Needs prescription and can’t shave because wife. You sir, are the reason a lot of men choose to be single (and I’m married but don’t have such spouse) lol
I mean…yeah if you need wide shoes that’s fine and probably sensible.
Also don’t listen to your wifez if you want to shave you legs just do it.
The reason cyclists shave their legs (despite all the bullshit that people tell you about aero and wound healing etc) is because wearing tight lycra and having hairy legs looks frankly ridiculous. Somehow even more ridiculous than having shaved legs.
Why would she care?
My wife is a total shaved leg convert. Just do it.
The shoes are super clean. 🔥
White shoes, White socks 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
I have a Morton Neuroma and the best thing I’ve found is adding a metatarsal patch to my insoles.
