Welcome back to day 62 of biking from Norway to South Africa and day six and a half of biking in the Netherlands and our first day biking in Belgium. I never really know what to do with the border days if it should count for the first country or the second country, but today was pretty half and half, so I think it should count for both. But let me know what you think because I would love to have your opinion on how the counters and like the timeline should go. It was my dad’s last day of biking with us and we were biking all the way to Antworp because he’s flying out of Brussels. So, we had to get him close enough to be able to hop a train and make his way back to New York. Um, like I said, we started off the day in the Netherlands and maybe about 20 25 miles into our ride, um, crossed over the border into Belgium and I think this was the little marker. So, we stopped and took some photos with it. It would be pretty funny though if it wasn’t. Um, the bike trail that we were on kind of weaved over the border like a couple of times. So, we were like out of the Netherlands and then back in. And eventually, we crossed the border into Belgium for good. We rode like our last 10 miles of the day on this really lovely path right next to a canal. And it was such a nice way to end not only the day’s ride, but also the little section that my dad was joining us for. Um, getting to just have a little bit of like relaxed riding where we could talk to each other and joke around was really lovely. We are super excited to be getting close to Dunkirk and making our way over to the UK soon. We’re getting really close to the end of our Shenin eligibility. So, it feels really good to like be within finishing distance and knowing that we’re not going to accidentally overstay our visa. And yeah, soon we’ll be taking our little detour of making, I guess, forward progress in the UK, but we will still be biking. And yeah, that’s all for our first day in Belgium. I’ll see you tomorrow.
