Welcome back to day 59 of biking from Norway to South Africa and day four of biking through the Netherlands. We woke up in Utre this morning and it was quite rainy. Um, but we still had to have a nice walk around town and check out the city a little bit. We walked around for like an hour or two and got positively soaked. So that way we were already wet when we were starting our ride for the day, but luckily the weather started to clear up soon after, so we were able to dry off and bike without rain for most of the day. We had a much shorter day today and we’re just biking over to Amsterdam. So, just a couple hours on the bike today was nothing too bad and the weather held out pretty well for us. We hit our first drawbridge roadblock. Um, and then once that was lowered, we continued on and we biked through one of the prettiest little towns or suburbs, I don’t even know what to call it, that I’ve like ever seen in my life. The houses were absolutely stunning. Had the most beautiful gardening and hydrangeas all over the place and they were right on a canal and it was just so beautiful. We were in awe the entire time. We biked a bit more and then stopped at a grocery store to have a little snack and warm up for a second before continuing the last bit of the ride. We were so excited to get to Amsterdam. It’s literally one of my favorite cities in the world. And just being back always makes me so happy. Um, pretty soon after biking on this little farm road, we joined up with Amsterdam city traffic and got back into the swing of things of biking with so many people. It always seems a bit chaotic for the first few city blocks, but then, you know, your muscle memory kicks back in and it becomes normal again. But at first, I was like, “Wow, this is a lot to manage.” I guess that’s what happens when you’re used to biking through like smaller towns and natury areas. Um, but I’m so happy to be back in Amsterdam. We got our bikes locked up and stowed underground and we’ll be here for a couple of days and I’ll catch up with you soon for day
