I’m new to cycling and want to get a road bike to eventually do a triathlon with. I’ve been looking on marketplace for trek bikes and are seeing a lot between 200-600, but I’m guessing they must be older models if they’re that much off the general retail price of this brand. Does age matter too much with this brand? And can somebody explain nicely why the wheel diameters are a big part of choosing too?I found this one listing that seems good for me because I’m 5’5”:

Trek Pilot 5.2 52 carbon road bike with Shimano Ultegra 10×3. Carbon seat post. Stem riser on handlebars. Well maintained in A/C. $3000 new.
NOTE: this is a compact frame at 52cm for a shorter person 5’2”- 5’5” or so.

Any advice appreciated 🙂

Umm what’s up with the handlebar post? I would bring it to a shop and get it sized. Bike could be too small for you.
