I left my 1200 dollar bike outside both my appointments unlocked was left unattended for hours and no one messed with it, Wisconsin are good people. Well I mean just medium size towns overall

Dam, in Portland I came back to just my cut locks and a security guard who didn’t give a shit. He watched it get stolen.

  3. I fucking hate thieves of any kind, but bike thieves and car thieves are the fucking worst.

By stealing someone’s mode of transportation, you could very well be depriving them of their ability to get to work and earn a living resulting in them losing their job and even their home in extreme cases. For that reason I think that theft of a bicycle or car or any part of a bicycle or car should carry *much* harsher penalties than theft of other objects of similar value.

  4. This really sucks. I’m sorry. Did you have the chain going through the rear wheel when you locked it? Anything quick release needs to be locked down too unfortunately.

  5. Quick release? I replaced mine many screws from penta screws. My quick release are gone and now I have a seatylock x lock. It would be a pain to remove but not impossible. Deter the impulsive thefts. Sorry this happened to you. My main lock is a skunklock.

  6. Many years ago, when I was a college student, I went to the gym on a bike and came back to find both my wheels stolen. I threw the remaining frame over my shoulder to walk home, and about 30 minutes into my walk my Mom called me to tell me that she had cancer. One of the worst days of my life, and I will always have sympathy for people getting their wheels jacked.

  7. Same when I lived in NYC.

Got my seat stolen on my Primered GT Mongoose Bike, got a new seat then they stole the seat and seatpost. Got that replaced, then they cut the tires.

Ended up getting rid of the bke after the tires got replaced.
