My husband and I are traveling to the netherlands with our bromptons in a few weeks. New brompton owners (6 speed C-lines, M bars). We are trying to to make a frame for our dimpas using 1/4 inch corrugated plastic, similar to what is outlined here: https://ahpekbiker.blogspot.com/2015/03/brompton-accessories-15-packing.html

When we watch videos and tutorials, it looks like the brompton fits really nicely. However, ours feels incredibly snug, and has already ripped our dimpa just from testing it out. It takes two of us to even get it in the bag and it is super tight. We had to remove pedals and our seat and it is still quite tight (this is with the plastic in there). Without the corrugated plastic, it fits nicely, but only once we remove the pedals and seat. Online, it says the dimpa is 8.5 inches wide and our bike is 10.5 inches wide. We are having such a hard time getting it to work! Are we missing something? Has the dimpa gotten smaller over time? Do you have any tips to make this work, or alternative cheap bags to use that might be slightly larger/more durable?

  1. I did it pretty recently and used a yoga mat as part of the padding, it was very snug, but it fit with the saddle and everything. Not sure if there are other sizes of dimpa bags though.

  2. did u happen to tilt your handlebar closer to the rider? or installed wider handlebar with more bend ? these would have increased the folding dimension of Brompton
