Last May I was diagnosed with stage 3b lung cancer. Three months of chemo and immunotherapy (through which I continued to ride) then a bilobectomy at the end of August. (That was a rough one. ) Cancer free declaration in October. Today I rode 52 miles with these guys and I wasn’t the slowest in the group. Yay for modern medicine and thanks to my son who bought me a new bike because I didn’t die. It sure takes a village, whether you’re fixing a flat or fighting a disease.

Congrats on beating cancer and getting back out there
Well done sir, an inspiration to others for sure.
I love it when someone gets a mechanical on a group ride and literally before the problem is even diagnosed *everyone* has their tool kit out.
Amazing, so glad you’re still here to enjoy a great ride on a gorgeous bike on a gorgeous day. Chapeau!
Very proud of you, stranger. Great job on the ride and the battle.
Congrats!!
52 miles is no slouch ride either. Modern medicine is wild for sure, this is very impressive, nice work 💪
Congrats to your victory, my Achaean 🙂
I’m a brain cancer survivor, I celebrated not-dying by riding (again) across Iowa for RAGBRAI 50
