Depends on if you want to reuse the chain or not. I’d just get a chainbreaker or carefully pry it open with pliers. When I had a similar old chain back in the day I removed that part with pliers and took off the chain to clean it. Then I put it back on and used different pliers to squeeze that piece back into place. I rode that chain for another year without issues.

You should be able to open them with needle nose pliers or they sell tools for them (I think).

You bend the link so the pins go towards each other, until the plate shown in the photo can be pulled off.
You grab the chain with both hands and bend it towards the wheel and the metal plate should just pop off.
