That looks as about as clean as it’ll get. You’ll need to switch to newer shifters if you want hidden cables.

The right looks good. Left needs trimmed. Those look fine when the housing is symmetrical.

Those look like pre-hidden-cable Shimano 10 speed? The shifting turns to shit because of the added friction when you force the routing under the bar tape, which is why Shimano completely changed the pull ratio for 11 speed road. If you want to pursue that look you might want to just go 11-speed outright.

Looks like they both could be shortened. If you get them the right length you could clip them together in the middle.

Yeah I mean the pay off is better shifting and way easier replacement than the slightly newer stuff like 6800 uktegra that runs under the bars. They fixed it in 7000 series though.

  5. Get some flat bars. Sorted. You probably spend 95% of your riding time on the hoods anyway.

I’ve got the same group, enjoy the performance of the shifters. The newer ones that are hidden don’t shift as smoothly/reliably because to hide the cables they have to turn too many tight corners.

In my opinion, this was as good as Shimano got. (And no, I don’t see an improvement with one or two extra gears beyond 10.)

You could buy a group set that doesn’t hang its balls out everywhere.

This is why, back in the day, I was a campy boy.

  8. Well maintained it’s going to work for many years to come. Loads of electronic stuff is going to randomly die , lots won’t of course but it’s definitely a bigger waste long term

A nice big bar bag and tape the cables to the bag. You’ll have snacks for days and clean cables.
