Hey folks, I just hired a new Trek Rail+ 8 (Bosch Gen 5) for the day and noticed a flexible gap appear between the frame and plastic/rubber battery cover. Anyone else seeing this issue? Otherwise, great bike – did 85km in one day (60km first run, then quick charge for an additional 25km) with 1,500m of climbing. Impressive range for 92kg dude on a 25kg bike.

If this is a rental like you say, document everything you see and let your dealer know when you bring it back. This is a new battery attachment design for this generation, and if it’s failing, the more info you can give the dealer the better. I haven’t seen this before, but I would let the shop look at it sooner rather than later if it’s the actual battery cover that’s bulging
Cheers. It’s been returned and pointed out. They’re looking into it. No way I was going to attempt cleaning the bike with that much gap.
