You’ll need a new seatpost. That one looks like nothing I’ve ever seen.

That’s not the current standard/ubiquitous mounting mechanism. You’ll likely need to get a new seatpost that will have a universal mounting mechanism to go along with a more universal saddle.

Long story short; no they’re not all the same. And yours looks quite old compared to what most modern “clamp” style systems use nowadays. Again even with a modern mechanism, they aren’t all the same!

For the most part (if you have a really, really, old bike, it can be pre-standard) the rail distance are a standard so that any saddle can fit on any seat post.
It’s also funny they’re called seat post, and not saddle post.

You can get a new clamp for your existing post – cheaper than buying a whole post
you can’t get anything, as far as I’m aware, for that square rail system.

V-Seat !!!

The seatpost itself may be ok, but you need the clamp mechanism for the round rails. Quite common for your new seat. I haven’t seen that type on your old seat.

You need a clamp that fits your new saddle and your old seatpost. There is no need to get a new seatpost. But your old saddle is cheap all plastic and it’s broken, so how bad quality is the rest of the bike?
Go to a shop and ask them to measure your sit bones so you can figure out a saddle width. Otherwise you could be buying saddles til the end of time.
Is that an old Brompton? They still used candle seatposts a few years back. Still fits standard saddles.
Everything is universal if you’re brave enough.
