replacing my fork, cant get the old crown race off so had to buy a new one. New one didn't fit. So now I'm looking through a bunch of bike parts I never used and I saw this there. it was inside a pack of bearings that I must have got from amazon. maybe it was a set? it looks different from the other two bearing housing things. but seeing how difficult it is to get the old one up, I wanna make sure before I put it down. any help would be greatly appreciated. the quicker the reply, I might can get a next day amazon delivery if I need to buy a new one. thanks in advance.

There is a specific tool for this but I use a 1.5in PVC pipe.
Crown races are meant to be matched to your headset. While there is some interchangeability it’s not guaranteed.
What headset do you have?
They look different. I would have another go at removing the one you know is the correct one.
The bearing surface on this looks a little rough
Yes, yes it is. You can pick up a PVC pipe from a hardware store to help “hammer” it down.
I mean you could drive it all the way down and try it OR you could just take the crown race and fit it on the bottom of the headset and see if it seems like it fits.
Make sure it fits the bearings for the headset you plan to use, that can be tested without installing it.
I’d also grease the fork steerer tube before installing it.
just wanted to say thanks to everyone who comment so far. i got a few options I’m gonna try now
