Probably. Worst case you walk the rest of the way. I’d try it. Bodges like this are not uncommon in mountain biking to get you out of the woods. Just be careful and take it easy.

I mean only one way to find out, and worst case if it goes flat again, thats a pretty short walk

Yes. You might have to walk the remaining 2.9 km but you’ll make it

It may, it may not.
Always Carry a spare tube even if you have to wrap it under the saddle and a pump and fix the puncture when you get home.
You’ll have to let us all know how you get on lol.
Good luck.

I’ve gotten around a flat tire like this before by tying a knot in the tube right where the hole is and then stretching it onto the rim and inflating it. It got me a few miles home.

Well it exploded when I pumped it to 80 psi:(

No way those tires need 80psi! Higher than I run on my road bike.
20psi should be enough.

May have been better to tie that section up in a way that it doesn’t need to hold air whatsoever. But worth a shot regardless good luck!

Hardly worth the effort for 3 km. By the time you make that patch and get it into the tyre you could have walked most of the way there and been able to fix it with proper equipment or a replacement tube. 3 km is maybe 30 minutes of walking.

You can tie a knot in tube to get u home no need for tape just fold the tube where the hole is and place a knot a bit bellow it and ride slow or carry preglued parches they will get u home but need replacing after for a pernament one since they tend to fail

next time, you can tie a knot at the hole and ride it out back home.
no, inflate it and you willl find out why. 3-5 bar is a lot for ducktape.
Wolfy35 on
It will definately do that distance with you if you fold it up and put it in a backpack

3 km is a 25 minute walk.

Just do a wheelie back home. No problems at all.
wreckedbutwhole420 on
Use that for the front tire and put good tube on the back, then you can just wheelie there

There was an old hack to tie off the punctured part of a tube to get you somewhere. This feels about the same as that.

Dude if that held air under your weight, I take my hat off to you man… Tried it once or twice … Did not work.

I’ve tied a knot in mine before, I felt it a little each time it hit the floor but that done me just over 5k on mostly flats.
Wheel still going strong a year later

When i had a flat and needed to go home without repair kit, but luckily i had a pump with me. I found the hole, cut a small twig from bushes near the road, twisted the twig around the hole and pumped the wheel. It stayed fully pumped until next day when I finally decided to repair my inner tube.
