This feels like such a silly question, but I’m at a loss on what to do here.

I bought the Sim Works Obento Rack for my All City Big Block. My forks don’t have eyelets, so I’m using the p-clamps that came with the rack. Upon installing everything, two of the struts are way longer and not flush to the rack as the other two. Additionally, the p-clamps sit really low on the forks. Feels like they should be higher, but that would make all four struts too long.

Do I need to cut the struts? Or, have I just foolishly installed them somehow?

idk about that racks but it might be that the clamps need to be facing behind the fork

  2. Just reading the description on their website (emphasis added):

Additionally, it includes 420mm extra-long connection rods and clamps to accommodate any front fork, whether or not it has eyelets. If your fork is fortunate enough to have mid-eyelets, **you can trim the rods to the appropriate size before attaching them.**

Is the rack made for this bike? The clamps are to low, can you even tighten them likes this?

You are supposed to cut to size. Every bike is different. This is why they are adjustable.

You should probably move the clamps way higher so the they actually clamp the fork tight enough not to slip.

You can start conservative(keep them longer) see how it all mounts. If not, go a little higher, cut again.

    Marker pen and a saw.
And some rubber strips for the loose parts first.

You can adjust them from here. Loosen the bolts, go to the right height and tighten them. You’re all good
