I’ve been out the bike game for a while due to a nasty accident but I’m looking at getting back into it. I’ve always dreamed of having a Santa Cruz mountain bike so figured I’d treat myself!

I’ve done some research and initially decided on the Bronson due to its versatility as I’ll be using it with the partner, family, bit of downhilling etc, nothing too intense – just yet at least.

Is a 2021 Bronson 3 a bad buy / is my money better spent elsewhere? I’ve posted the main standouts to me so far and would appreciate anyone’s input at all!

TIA
Riley

I find it hard to believe there are any 2021 bikes after Covid. ***AND*** does Santa Cruz signify their models with years now? They didn’t use to. I think the website is bogus.

  2. I might be misunderstanding what you mean here, but the bike I want to ride around with my wife and kids is not an enduro bike. You might be better served grabbing a lower cost hardtail or Dad bike and then picking up a more serious bike like a Bronson when you’re ready to move on to that.

I’ve been riding consistently for a long time. It has happened many times that someone wants to “get back into it” and shows up with way too much bike that they promptly don’t get back into it and abandon the bike to the garage.

If you can afford it and need it, then do it. I just think a measured approach might make you happier. Hardtails are wildly more slack and capable than they used to be. You can ride a surprising amount of stuff and learn some solid skills. It wouldn’t be hard to casually pedal with the family on some bike trails either.

If you want to try some downhill, you could consider renting a bike before diving all the way in.
