when I press on the levers they create a solid amount of pressure, but brakes are still weak and dont work properly, they also get very loud for a second when im about to come to a complete stop, any sort of helf would be good…

Dafuk am I suposed to do? my brakes work but poorly, it feels like they are contaminated with something. I put fresh oil in them, bled them, sealed them, sanded rotors and pads, cleaned them with brake cleaner, water, alcohol… and they still dont work properly!

Was this a problem before the brake cleaner? Generally not a good a idea to use anything more then water or alcohol on them. Just had a customer in my shop the other day who’s son used ‘brake cleaner’ on both his brakes………………………….and I had to charge him for new pads and rotors because they weren’t stopping even a little.

Added for a sad, likely don’t wanna hear it solution: Think the fix is pads and rotors. Those textros are great entry level hydros and should be stopping fine. From what you’re describing, the fix, sadly, is new parts.

Bicycle brake pads are sensitive souls. If they’re contaminated there’s slim chance of getting them back.

Did you bed them in yet? The front looks like it’s pulling too much in for a fresh bleed, and the lever that far out. Try a quick lever bleed and see if any bubbles come out. I’d also bed them to make sure you cover everything

The lever coming all the way to the handle has nothing to do with the pads or rotors. Unfortunately tektro brakes call for a somewhat difficult double syringe bleed which if you are not very good at it will simply introduce more air into the system and if done totally wrong can damage the diaphragm. I suggest trying a Shimano style bleed on them using a bleed cup

Torch the rotor and the pad. And while you are waiting for it to cool down, clean the caliper with alcohol mixed with a dishwashing soap.

I feel you, been through similar process😅 It did not help for me to sand the pads or soak them in alcohol and burn them etc. Almost seemed like the contamination had soaked the pads trough and through. I even took pads and rotors and cooked them in the oven. That’s life as a cyclist, pretty weird but at least it didn’t work!

It only happened to my front brake, and in the end I concluded that there had to be some minor leak in the caliper or something, because not even changing pads helped. Ended up buying a new cheap ish brake and it was worth every penny to get out of the hobby-chemist-lifestyle that consumed me for weeks.

If you are sure that the caliper has no leaks, it might work to dismount the caliper, super-clean all parts, get new fresh pads and wipe the rotors 20 times with alcohol and a sponge and maybe some sanding in between? Good luck!☺️

I’m going to suggest that you stop wasting your time and simply get better brakes.

Something like the Shimano Deore M6100 (Warning – these may be your gateway to the world of ‘premium’ components and upgrades 😁)

I spent a lot of time trying to get cheap brakes to work well before I realised that it’s just not worth the effort.

those tektro pads a very cheap. Usually 10 dollars for 4 pairs on amazon. I just throw them way when they get contaminated. As for the rotors ive had better luck with a scour pads but if you get minerial oil on them just get new ones. Just remmember you’ll have to re bed them in so it’ll feel like theres no friction at first. As for the brake bleed as long as you feel pressure its fine. You might have the realign the calipers. no need for the alignment tool, just use business cards.

Given how soft your levers appear to be, I’d say you’ve still got air in the system.
Also, if there’s a chance that your pads have been contaminated, I’d say just get new ones. I know some people say they have success with the common cleaning methods, but I’ve never found them to work much. Cleaning the rotors and buying new pads is the only thing that gets satisfactory results.
