Caveats: stopped at turners hill for a rest and a crisp pint. I also fucked off ditchiling hill and had to stop a couple of times and walk due to the gear ratio (great on flat ground, abysmal when you show it a gradient).

Still tho. 4:50 total time with walking and the rest stop factored in. Not bad for a first attempt on the beater I use to go to work tbh

Well done, have always wanted to do that ride, friend and me did London to thetford once but Brighton seems a nicer ride. Is there a lot of designated cycle routes or is it dual carriageway hugging?

I did London to Cambridge on one and it was great. However I hear there are much bigger climbs on the Brighton run

Sod that for a game of frogs…..

Years back, when I was young and stupid (as opposed to now old and stupid), I rode my fixie from Munich to Rotterdam. Was walking around for days during and after like I’d shit myself.

I like freewheels in my hubs.

Cool. What gear ratio did you use?

Surrey must be the hard part I guess with all the rolling hills. They can be pretty sharp on the little country lanes.
