I know what you're thinking: "But Radishes, the '91 Ibis Avion didn't have a 1x drivetrain or 700c wheels!" Correct. But some faux-Motolites and a Bolany crankset later, you've got an adventure dream. Go ahead, try some larger wheels on your 26er. You might be surprised.

Beautiful! I have such a thing for Ibis. I have an Ibis Cousin It 26″ tandem mountain bike with the hand cable stop for the rear brake and the foot braze on for the frame pump. I’d love to have one just for me!
