Im looking at either getting a new decently equipped hardtail, the ones im looking at right now are:
OR
a VERY lightly used 2016 Giant Trance 2.
The price between the Trance and the hardtails for me would be around the same. Looking for opinions, insights, or even other HT options.

Edit: The Trance is fully serviced this year, and does not need any work, so shouldn't need anything in the near future

Get the hardtail. 2016 geometry was not great.
Anything but a 10 year old FS bike that likely needs a ton of expensive maintenance. Unless it’s free, and you know how to do the work yourself.

I wouldn’t go older than 2018
I ride a 2014 Trek Remedy and it’s fine. But like what’s everyone said the suspension and maybe even frame bearings on that Giant could be toast
