After buying two pieces of furniture off of Facebook Marketplace, this was suggested to me randomly. I couldn't miss this flashback and looked into what condition the vintage wheels were in. They were asking $250. Belongs to the son and hasn't been ridden in 10 years. The posted pictures were of a dirty bike in a garage with two flat tires.

1st visit I explained to them that the only reason I'm interested in purchasing the bike is because I used to own the same bike at age 20 and in college. And according to my research I'm not paying $250.

I gave them my offer which they refused and told them to counter offer me if they don't have anymore offers. What I remember is the Trek 6000 is a very stiff motha focker to ride. Nobody is going to be dying to pick this up for their asking price. I'm possibly considering making this stiff frame into an ebike project.

Two weeks later I get a message asking if I'm still interested. Bike has been posted for a couple of months at this point. So I make a second trip to purchase the bike and spend about 20 hours during my week cleaning, tuning and oiling the bike. I used to work in a bike shop and detailed motorcycles at another location. So I'm knowledgeable on how to make dirty paint and rusted metal/chrome look younger again.

Since the pictures I took I've replaced the original tires because they had spotty tire rot/cracking. Everything else on the bike works perfectly.

Can you guess what I paid for this bike?✨️ 😏

Looks pretty! No idea what you paid for it, but I had one back in the day too – black with green speckles. And I clearly remember the super-harsh ride, shaking your eyeballs out on the downhills.
