Seller is asking 1.7k for this Scott Addict 10 with Dura Ace 9000 and Ultegra multi. I know rim brakes could be a downside, but I wanted an extra opinion. For the same price I could be getting a new aluminum bike with 105 and hydraulic brakes.
I'm looking to get more seriously into cycling and train consistently.
For the same price Im looking into a new Merida Endurance 400 with 105 or a used Giant Defy with Tiagra components.
Any advice is well received.

I would say 700-800 USD.
I want to say 7-800 as well. For 1.7k you could arguably go for a new canyon or something along those lines

Not even close. If you want to make the most of this budget, I’d look at Canyon. You really cannot go wrong with any of their offerings.
