How does that bike still have the dork disc on it?!

Also not really a good deal

  2. If not a good deal what bike do you guys recommend for a $1500 budget.

I think even for 1000 it’s too much. Hell even for 500 likely and that’s because it’s an old bike. I don’t know how much I’d guess 10 years or something like that.

And so for 1500 usd you should look in to hardtails with modern geo. For 1500 you could get probably a lot better used hardtail than this bike or alternatively even a new HT will be good for 1500. Kona, Canyon, Commencal, Trek and sooo many other options

I had that bike in aluminum and ended up getting rid of it because the pivots in the rear triangle would constantly squeak. I had to tear it down and regrease everything monthly. If you want to replace the bearings, you need a really good blind bearing puller. Also, that thing still has a 2x drivetrain.

For you, I would recommend keeping an eye out on marketplace or pinkbike for an aluminum bike that’s 2-3 years old with a 1x drivetrain, hydraulic disc brakes and an air fork.
