

from what I can tell it has sora components and a steel frame as well as by default 45mm tires which is great since it can probably go even a bit higher, I'm gonna guess its heavy and I'll for sure question the state of the drivetrain, and try to get it down to 700

AWOL is actually a pretty cool bike. I know quite a few Specialized employees who were bummed and/or kicking themselves for not buying one before they were discontinued. I know a couple others who have one and say it may be a bike they never sell because of its versatility and that it should last many years.
As a first bike, an AWOL is a no-brainer. Similar to buying a Surly, but in some cases a little snappier and lively. It also makes for a great backup bike for a friend to ride, or the daily beater to ride in the crappy weather days.
Try for $700, but i don’t think the 800 ask is totally unrealistic if it comes as pictured. Seems in clean shape and not abused.
