Join That Cycling Chimp on a breathtaking adventure through Argyll and Bute as he tackles Scotland’s legendary 3 Ferry Challenge! This unforgettable route winds through the stunning Cowal Peninsula, combining ferry crossings, coastal climbs, and hidden gravel trails for one of the most scenic cycling routes in the UK.
The journey kicks off at Wemyss Bay, where we set sail across the Firth of Clyde to Rothesay on the Isle of Bute. After soaking up the island’s charm, it’s a ride north to Rhubodach to catch Scotland’s shortest ferry crossing to Colintraive. From there, we hit the Cowal Peninsula’s rugged terrain, with panoramic views of the Kyles of Bute, thigh-burning climbs, and a surprise off-piste gravel section that true adventure cyclists won’t want to miss.
We roll into Dunoon, stopping at the moving Highland Mary statue, before hopping on the third ferry to Gourock. The final leg along Lunderston Bay brings us full circle back to Wemyss Bay, full of memories and muddy tyres.
