Michelin PowerCup Clincher, strong main thread, weak sidewall

So i have been using gp5k clincher prior, and its prone to road debris punctures (stapler, sharp stones, nail etc). mainly rides on tarnac.
Decided to try powercup clincher as its rated closely as fast as gp5k.
650km in, still zero puncture but today i saw the front tire sidewall got slashed as i was cleaning the bike at home, which i suspect maybe i got it when the tire got between cracks on pavement, or some sharp rocks on road.

the reviews were indeed true, the main thread were solid resistance to puncture, but the sidewall strenght however is something left to be desired 😔
