Sure, I usually couple them with rainproof pants, too. Having owned 5 or 6 pairs of shoecovers, I’ve found zero that offer proper water protection yet, the level I’d expect from hiking apparel or footwear, but they still help a lot in staying warm as they keep the wind off your ankles, and limit the sheer mass of water just being sucked right in.

Bought some for a recent trip. It rained so heavy and for so long that seemed almost pointless having them, but they’d be useful for short commutes or light rain.
