I’ve ridden fixed gear bikes before and I have the broken collar bone to prove it! But despite living 90 min from the oldest running velodrome in the US, I’ve never seen a track race in person, let alone ridden on a track. Thanks to the nice folks at www.kenoshavelodromeracing.com, I was able to bring the camera along to the April 2025 “Track 101” clinic! I learned so much! But my main take away was — I need to build a track racing bike and go back for more!

This may be the best BikeFarmer bike into and video into I’ve ever seen. Love the sarcastic low-key “this is a terrible bike” vibes! Honestly: what a cool-looking bike that I would probably never ride.
What a joy this is.
I’m just a regular old average bike rider that has a new appreciation for track riding/racing. I like your variety of content. Thanks bike farmer.
Am I the only one that wants to show up on a full suspension and turn that into a roller derby? Not with permission, just out of survival 😂
When I was about twelve, one of my paper route customers saw me circling the tetherball court at the grade school until it made him dizzy. He was an Olympic ski jumper in the 50's and took me to the Brown Deer Park Velodrome to watch a couple of times. This may have been the motivation to strip everything functional off of my Western Flyer English Racer and ride it in the high gear with no brakes. Later did the same when I was in high school in California. Often been tempted to go and see what the sport looks like 60 years later. This piques my interest, but the curiosity is still there.
So are the bikes fixies with no brakes for a reason or is it just to keep the sport faithful to historic times? Or to try to even out the playing field?
Happy you got this experience. Track is super fun!
Once you get comfortable, using the banks becomes an extension of the bike.
Thanks!
Very interesting. Adds variety to your videos. You dropping your phone reminds me of a fellow I knew long ago who started out as a runner and then switch to cycling because he said that when he ran his cigarettes kept falling out of his pocket
the simplicity of track bikes is just beautiful
Bike bolshevik, do some extreme downhill MTB stuff. I'm curious how you do.
Sick!
This gathering reminded me of 120 days of sodom.
Dude your SLAYER bike is super sweet. Like the clean lines and simplicity. I like having a single speed in the stable for fun chill rides and commuting.
Aw I wish I knew you were in my town!
G`nuff ! The circle track speed riding is alluring. I see myself getting in there with a vintage welded 4130 3 speed on 27 1/4's sucking down protein powder mixed with Egg Whites International ® homogenized egg whites.
what do you mean when you say you're "spun out"? Just tired?
Ahh bring a crappy bike so you can wimp out early! Best advice! Loving the content!
THIS is the best episode!!!!! I am an avid track bike rider and over all bike enthusiast, who has ridden fixed gear track bikes since 2007. I have been a subscribed follower for some time. Seeing you on a fixed gear and that you went to see Slayer, made my day!!! Awesome times ten!!! Grand appreciation to you and your channel Bike Farmer.
I always interesting to see the different aspects of cycling regardless of the weird specifics each one has.
The POV shots behind all the other riders really helps show the shape of the track. Nice work.
great content,thanks
this is Great …Thank you !!!!!!
The need for speed!
Had no idea such public events existed, and they basically train total beginners? Very cool.
The girl has the right attitude, “If I win the race today …” and really, why wouldn’t she win?
Would like to try a velo track. I could see myself getting into that! Kudos to Kenosha for supporting it.
Pretty cool, I was just noticing the instructor's hood e. Bradley University isn't very far from my location
Nice vid.❤
That was fun , great video Mr. Taco! I used to road race motorcycles about 40 years ago, the banked corners were always so much fun , go in high and dive down the banking . So fast on the exit . Depending on the shape and the surrounding topography it kind of being thrown out of a Jai Alai racket .
We all need a go to see Slayer bike
Any reason you didn't flip the wheel over to the smaller sprocket?
This video was great, and I always love seeing Midwestern biking content show up in my feed.
Who knew Little Feat were track cyclists? 😀

I watch track events on Youtube, JB Velodrome and Lexus Velodrome. T town was always just too far away. A riding mate made an olympic team. On another level!
Really enjoyed this, never quite realized all that was going on in track racing. Great that they have this available for the community. What fun!
