so this is my cousins bike he has probably had it for about 13 maybe 14 years, its just been left around for ages we used to have it in our garage and my dad would go out on it sometimes but that was years ago and about the most use itโ€™s ever gotten, recently iโ€™ve had to borrow it since my bike is out of commission with the hub being broken so it was just to get me to work whilst my bike was in the shop but i was thinking what if i converted it into a dirt jumper? or would it just be a massive waste of time and money? the frame itself is in decent shape and the bars are alright, seatpost, seat clamp and the rums are also fine but other than that i feel i would have to replace almost everything i do not have the knowledge or tools to really do a task like this however i think i could get most of what i need off youtube and would be a good time to learn a bit more
what does everyone think is it worth the time and effort or just leave it? i did think about this before but i just realised it has 26โ€ tires making it even more like a dirt jumper ๐Ÿ˜† could maybe even try reliving the glory days of the skatepark since iโ€™ve not got a bmx anymore ๐Ÿ˜†

  1. I don’t know about your dirt jumping idea but to service it yourself is a pretty good idea to be more independent from LBS.

Last year I got scammed by my LBS and since then I learned how to maintain and service every piece of my bike (except for a fork). It’s best feeling in life to be independent from LBS and I learned everything from Reddit and YouTube.
