My gravel bike has similar dents in the rear rim. I took a pair of pliers and bent the dent spot back. They have held for 1000s of miles. That said there’s a risk to doing this.

Probably fine. I personally would try and see how it goes, especially considering it’s the rear wheel and not the front wheel: if something goes wrong, you will be less likely to lose teeth. (there’s still risk though!)

  3. As long as it’s still a smooth surface on the inside of the rim you should be good! I would also recommended making an attempt at bending it back. I’ve had good success using either a rotor truing tool or a large adjustable spanner to get good grip and avoid scratching and creating sharp surfaces.

  4. I have bent a similar sidewall dent back straight using pliers, on an aluminum rim. Obviously not the safest idea but it’s been holding air in a tube fine for thousands of miles

  5. It’s not too bad. You could use a pair of vice grips with an old tube or rag to prevent marring, to gently bend back into place. You can smooth any rough/sharp areas with a bit of sandpaper. Best of luck!

Yes it’s safe. You can fix the dent with an adjustable wrench and get it almost perfect

  7. Put a good quality cone wrench flat against the rim on both sides of the dent, squeeze with pliers. That will reduce the size of the dent significantly. You’ll probably be able to run it tubeless again.
