    Christ almighty that should never happen. You didn’t do anything wrong. Possibly something was overtightened or otherwise installed improperly when the shop installed the cassette (the cluster of rear gears)?

    That bike does use relatively low-end components, but even the lowest-end component shouldn’t just snap in half like that, ever, let alone when it’s still quite new, if it’s installed correctly.

    Whatever happened, they’ll fix it and be embarrassed that it happened.

    It broky. Holy hell, how is that even possible. A chain should snap quicker than the cog it’s on. It’s a cheap-ish 7-speed Sunrace cassette, so maybe a manufacturing defect?

    Did it happen when you were just pedalling in this gear or shifting? Did the overall shiting feel smooth or jerky? Maybe the rear derailleur was not set up properly.

    BTW, do you shift corretly? You are not supposed to shift while applying force to the pedals.
