700s are nice. used to have one. very light and speedy

It’s a fine bike from a respected brand, but the 700 was the low end of Trek’s steel frame bikes of this era (900 and 800 series bikes were higher). Not a bad deal but not a steal at $175, these bikes cost about $250-300 new. Inflation obviously a big factor here probably more like a $500 bike now. I see 830s, 850s and occasionally 930s at this price point, maybe not in as good of condition
