Hey all! Found this 2023 cannondale topstone 1 for sale in my area on Facebook. I’m looking for a do it all bike — pretty new to this world, so really hoping for 1 bike that can serve me for light trails, dirt, roads, and very occasional bikepacking. I was thinking I’d get the Poseidon X Ambition 3 when it comes out next week, but this is enticing. It’s being offered for $1,000. What do you think on the bike and the price? Thanks!!

1000 is good for that bike but you’ll probably still want to upgrade the crankset and BB to full GRX, if this is a rail trail crushed limestone path kind of bike it’s really good. I wouldn’t take it on actual dirt trails in my opinion, no matter which way you put it an aluminum bike with no suspension is really harsh.
My old Gary fisher mountain bike was way less harsh than hitting major bumps on these “gravel” bikes, no matter which one I tried.
I like my Topstone a lot but I’ve put a lot of work into dialing it in, coming from mountain biking background and trying to get the proper fit on a road bike.
The most important thing is to make sure it’s the actual size you need, and they only come in small/medium/large/XL. So I have a medium being 5’10 and still had to shorten the stem on it. I’ve had almost 2 years of messing with it dialing in the fit, which I finally think it’s good but not perfect.
Drop bar bikes are tough, there’s a whole BikeFit subreddit for it.
