Hi everyone,

I’m currently in the market for my first gravel bike, even though I have no prior experience with gravel riding. My budget is around €2,500–3,000, and I’ve been doing some research.

A lot of people seem to recommend Cube bikes for their good value for money, but I’ve also heard some negative opinions about the brand in general. What’s your take on Cube? Are they a reliable choice, or should I consider other options within my budget?

Thanks in advance for your help!

  1. I don’t know much about Cube but have owned many brands over my 35 years of cycling. What I have learnt, is to buy from a brand that has good customer backup. I now lean towards brands like Trek that have a good warranty service.

I have this exact Bike and its fantastic. An absolute rocket on and off the road 🙂

  3. I just bought the C:62 ONE about half a year back and quite happy with it as well. Also my first gravel bike, but my budget was a bit lower 😀

  4. Cube has always done e-bikes I think and therefore their acceptance into the road /gravel market has been relatively slow and reluctant. However the value and quality is pretty undeniable so I see plenty of Cube love lately

  5. I have a cube nuroad ex, and I have a couple of very small gripes in what is an overall great value package

Total system weight is limited to 115kg (on the EX); I’m around 101kg kitted up with water, plus the bike is 111ish, so not a lot of margin.

The bars are fairly narrow. Coming from a mountain bike and Nukeproof digger, a wider set of drop bars would be welcome addition.

Other than those two complaints, it’s been a trusty rig so far, and picked it up for a steal on sale as well

Where did you hear those negative opinions? And what was the criticism about?

Cube offers probably the best value for money ratio currently.

This does not fit in the “LoOk aT mY aWeSoMe 15k € SpEzIALiZeD / CoLnAgO” Instagram bubble, that’s why those people hate on it.

  8. Not gravel but I’ve owned a Cube Attain road bike for the last 6 years and only have positive things to say about it.

  9. Availability can be an issue for some models/builds. Customer service may be lacking a little behind other companies like Giant, but that will largely depend on whether there is a cube dealer near where you live. The geometry/designs they use are probably a little conservative and not cutting edge, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

  10. I have the same bike, just the previous generation. It’s an excellent bike.
As I have quite narrow shoulders, i changed the bars to 38cm and changed the chainring to something bigger, 46t instead of 42.

And honestly, if the brand was good enough for Binian Girmay to win the green jersey in TDF, it should be good for anyone.

  11. I got me the 2023/24 model little more than a year ago and having a blast with it. Easily the most well spent 2.1k € in my entire life. I have one tiny complaint which is that it’s so much fun to ride it aggressively. I literally have to force myself to ride economically when I start a long trip. [This is me](https://youtu.be/xkDf7GA879A) every time I get set for my after work ride

  12. Cube has very good bang for the buck. But they take ages to deliver. Friend of mine now waiting for 6 months and the production date gets pushed back a few weeks every month.

  13. Got two Cubes – a 15 year old Alu hard tail and a recent c:68 cross race. No issues with either.

Value for money is top in comparison to other ‘store available and testable’ bikes IMO.

Rose Backroad is another possibility for try before buy but more expensive unless you nab something in their discounted stock.

Honestly if you put a cube and another £ bike side by side in 99spokes or similar you get a lot more for your money. The uncool dividend. Same with Pinnacle in the UK.

  15. its a good deal but this integrated seatpost clamp looks a little ugly in my eyes

  16. I’ve never heard anyone say they dislike this company for any reason. Where have you heard this?

A friend of mine brought his Cube road bike (can’t recall which model) to a local bike shop for service. The mechanic said he didn’t like Cube because of use of sub-par parts, like bearings for example. Can anyone attest to that? Or counter that?

Wow, if people don’t think your 2500 EURO Cube is cool, they must really hate my $600 GT! (But my GT is great 👍)
