Hey everyone!

For a uni project, we’re researching how mobile solar tech – like solar powerbanks, foldable solar panels, or solar saddlebag setups – is used in bikepacking.

If you’ve got 10 minutes, we’d love your input via our short survey:

Or drop a comment here with your experience: What gear works? What doesn't? Or do you skip solar entirely?

Thanks so much – and safe riding!🌞

  1. [My rule of a thumb](https://www.reddit.com/r/bikepacking/comments/1jl46d1/comment/mk0ry80/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) is that solar makes sense if the route will be sunny enough AND you need over 20 000 mAh in power banks.

Maybe for trips in bigger group taking a single one would make sense. Panels with rigid cells are too fragile to be used on MTB trips and on trekking ones they need way too much care. I didn’t find any reasonably priced flex cell panel that would offer good weight to nominal power ratio and don’t need it that much to design custom one myself.
