  1. Paint could be slightly thicker than a normal coat, foam could be slightly more denser etc. If it was a significantly higher amount (few hundred +) I’d be concerned, but 60g is more likely a heavier coat of paint/lacquer or a slightly denser batch of foam.

The weight could be because of helmet safety standards, CE vs CPSC. Depends on your country’s regulations

  3. I think I’ve owned 3 MET Trenta 3K carbon helmets and the carbon looks like that on all of them. I believe it has to do with how the foam expands into the mold and it’s just how they are. Nothing to be concerned about.

As for the weight there are a ton of reasons why the weight could be off and that could just be that 223 isn’t a realistic number. I did just weigh mine and the two that were from the first year of production (both large, one black, one blue) both weighed 258. The blue one from one or two years later came in at 266.

So do with that what you will…. you’re still 30g heavier with your medium and that seems out of line for for a finish difference.

Keep in mind mine are all the European version so they don’t have the US CSPC certification. I’ve heard a rumor, although I don’t know if it’s true, that the US versions of the helmet are heavier in order to meet one of the CSPC requirements. Not sure if you got a US or Euro version.

  4. I had one but sent it back because it didn’t fit. The finish on the carbon wasn’t great either though so it might be somewhat normal.

  5. Even if it’s genuine i’d return it. Such poor craftsmanship is unacceptable. On a side note i’ve been looking to maybe purchase a new helmet and in my local lbs looked at some met helmets and I didn’t like how they are all made even expensive ones. I have a scott arx helmet and it’s made a lot better.
