I had a puncture repaired by a Specialized bike shop a few weeks ago, haven’t ridden much since but haven’t had an issue on it. Got a puncture today and when going to change it, saw that the inner tube has been folded into the wheel. Is this a normal/ok thing to do? I’m not yet great with in knowing what sizes you need for things (all the numbers confuse me and I always have to google 🥹) but just wondering if they’ve fitted an inner tube that’s too big for my tyre?
Sorry if this is such an easy question 😅

I’ve seen it before, the tube is not the right size. It’s not ideal, it makes the tire off balance.
This can happen if you ride the bike when the tire has lost almost all air.
700 tube in 650 tire? Don’t think thats how it’s supposed to be
Seems they fitted a tube too big for the rim indeed. Try going back and see if they’ll be any helpful second time around
You have 650b size rims, thus you need 650b or ‘584’ size tubes. You currently have a 700c tube which is way too big. Someone didn’t do their job right.
A great way to prevent this is adding baby powder inside your tire before installing the tube.
It’ll work but it’s not the proper way to do it. I wouldn’t expect a professional to do this, a home mechanic or cyclist may do it temporarily.
Its ok to get you home if you have no alternative. Its not ok for a bike shop to fit an incorrect inner tube.
You might want to reconsider visiting that shop.
It’s ok kid, just fold the overlap like I taught you and go wash the rest of the bikes.
It’s good to make it home if it’s the only tube you have. Once home, replace it with the correct size.
That repair works in a pinch but you won’t want to keep riding on it. The inner tubes are very flexible and can go up a bunch in size or be folded down far past the stated dimensions….for a bit. But it won’t be reliable. It’s the kind of repair that is better than walking home but that’s it.
Wrong tube for the tire.
You have a 650B tire and a 700c tube
This is a hack to get you home when you have 650b wheels and your mate has a 700c tube.
This is wrong when a bike shop does it
Some Muppet has put the wrong sized tube in your tyre…
No but someone got home on it
you have to focus on the metric number, 622 and 584 is a mismatch
