Trying to figure the best way to attach my frame bag to my bike… thought the 4mm para cord I bought might be a decent enough match for the orange flashes on the restrap kit I have in readiness for a charity bikepacking trip to the High Atlas in June…however, where do I start!??
Honest feedback welcome – I’ve never laced a bag before, just used Velcro… so what do so do…
Ditch the orange?
Relace differently?
Go back to Velcro?
Something else!??
Help!

Definitely not a fan of the orange paracord. Maybe try with black.
Are you asking about looks or about functionality?
Be careful of your paint, i wouldnt be surprised if you will end up with a ton of paracord abrasion if you dont have any paint protection on that frame.
Looks quite cool tbh
My advice would be to try to stress out a little bit less about matching the exact shades of orange on the laces of your bikepacking bags and instead just enjoy the ride 🙂 your bike looks great.
Orange looks crazy. Maybe you like crazy.
Black would be more subtle.
Velcro straps would also work.
Anticipate paint damage where the bag/cords/straps touch the frame.
Frame bag looks too big for the frame
I think it looks pretty sweet actually
Also, try weaving the paracord in a shoe style manner instead of just doing circles with it. It will look better and rotate less from side to side.
In my experience, most of the weight is on the top tube.
So my recommendation would be to use black bungee cord there (better for tightening) and then to add two Velcro straps on each side of the frame bag to keep it in place.
Your frame bag looks a tiny bit to big for your frame so its always going to sag (or bulge) a little.
The orange paracord looks good but you need to do an x pattern, not just simple loops.
The bike looks different from others because you got a road racing/aggressive position from saddle to bars.
Also use some Velcro strapping/loops to place the water line more precisely.
Change the paracord color. Your top tube is too busy, looks bulky then thin by the shock, move the rear pouch under downtube. Get a burrito bar for the handlebars and another fork pack to kind of balance everything out.
Lol this shit looks tight
I think the paracord is sick
I feel like bike packing kit doesn’t need to look necessarily good. It just needs to be functional
Is your bike big enough for you? Just because your seat is set so high
I mean there is such a thing as racks?
i would use velcro just because lacing and unlacing this would be a pain. if you plan to leave these bags on the bike 100% of the time, maybe. even then, you might need to remove a bag for maintenance or something.
cool idea visually, but too impractical for my taste.
Orange bar tape is the answer 😉
Is the seat post above minimal insertion???
I think you need a completely different bike and set of bags. If you want I can dispose of your current setup 🙂
No seriously don’t stress about it, it looks great so if it works, just ride it!
