My bike is only a year old and I just took it for it’s second service and it’s cost me £240. I had to have new cogs, derailer, chain, brake pads, back tyre, cables fitted. They also said at the next service I’ll likely have to have the whole rear wheel rebuilt. Is this kind of wear normal, what does everyone do to extend the life of their parts? It lives inside, I regularly clean/oil the chain, pump the tyres to 100. Any advice for avoiding having to replace everything so often would be appreciated. Thanks

How many miles has it done?
That seems excessive, but it’s all wear items. Do you clean the chain, or just keep adding oil?
Any idea how many km you’ve done? The amount charged for service for a 1-year-old bike sounds excessive but if you’ve ridden it thousands of km over less than ideal terrain it might need that amount of attention.
