Hey 🙂 , I’m in the market for a new XC bike and I’m torn between the Epic 8 Pro (120/120mm) for 8k and the Evo 8 Expert (120/130mm) for 6k.

I’m planning to do long rides with decent elevation (around 2000m+), mix in some gravel, but also hit the trails now and then (nothing too gnarly though).

My main question: would the Evo with the 130mm fox suspension slow me down on those big rides, or is that just something that looks worse on paper than it feels out on the trail?

The Epic Pro is tempting with some nice extras like the power meter, lighter built etc. but is it really worth the extra 2k for what I ride?

Would love to hear from anyone who’s ridden either (or both)! Thanks a lot!

  1. I’m also looking into the Epic 8 evo bike. My two cents – If you’re not racing XC, go with the Evo. It’s a bike that can basically “do it all”. The epic pro won’t be THAT much faster than the evo. If you want to race XC in the future you can always throw a Rockshox SID on it and cut weight in other areas. My opinion – go with the EVO and add things that you really DO need along the way. Just my two cents.

I don’t know shit about specs but bike brands should calm down woth their giant ass logos, the first one is much nicer and cleaner

  3. I personally went with the Evo, but it’s still so new to me that I cannot form an opinion yet on it. So far so good, and it should suit me well where I ride.
