Hello! Years ago I had a pair of Lake shoes and they were outstanding. This week I got a pair that was on sale. They arrived like this. I contacted customer service, and they said this is normal and how they are suppose to look. They are out of my size now, and the rep said that they are exchange only. I’m at a loss for what to do. Did anyone else’s Lake MX238s look like this when they arrived? I’m just blown away after spending almost 300 bucks.

  1. i had these in my hands and they didnt even look close to yours. yours look more like a production error

  2. I don’t understand how people buy shoes online. I have to try them on. Every pair of shoes I’ve ever bought fits different even in the same size. I’ve tried on multiple pairs of the same shoe and sometimes one just fits better than the other because of small problems in production. I’ve tried on shoes that were the right size but just not comfortable for whatever reasons.

  3. Are they a special edition texture or something? They don’t necessarily look like a production error they look like they are designed to look like that at least

  4. My pair arrived in perfect condition. Yours look like someone did 500+ miles on them. I would politely remind them of federal and state consumer trade laws (just ask AI) and ask them for a refund. Exchange only assumes they sent what they advertised.

I expected you to be moaning after 4 mths use. That is not acceptable! Straight back and post them on Lake social media also.

I wouldn’t get the suede ones. I have the synthetic version and they’ve held up for five years of use and counting.

I’m not familiar with those shoes but I am suede enthusiast and have a half dozen pairs of unlined suede shoes.

Those shoes have been previously worn. You can tell by the creasing by the big toe on the right shoes and the smoothed nap on the outer edge of the right (shiny edge by pinky toe).

If the interior is in good shape and you plan to keep these you can easily restore the nap using a suede brush roughly $10 usd.

You’re gonna want a suede brush anyway as these will pick up a ton of dust and dirt you’ll want to remove.

If the issues are just cosmetic and you’re otherwise happy with the shoe, this is a quick and easy fix and it’s one you’d have to do as routine maintenance anyway.

I’d perhaps skip buying g from these guys again. They sold you a return and told you to get lost? lol what a joke

There’s a LBS near me that was willing to work with me to get the right pair of Lakes. They ordered a pair that was too big, so through trial and error we got the perfect pair. Highly recommend Proteus in College Park, MD if anyone is in the area. They carry Lakes and specialized shoes + do bike fits and have inserts and so forth.

Aren’t those the normal suede ones? What’s the problem here? You should have chosen a different finish.

  10. I have the exact same model. I received mine in pristine condition. Yours looks like it has been used a few rides then returned.

it this even real Lake? if this real the maker probably mad make outdoor sport shoes use suede

  12. When new they look awesome, not like yours. I’ve test fitted them for size because the one I wanted weren’t in stock. I would expect them to look like this after a few rides through rain or muddy terrain.

I have had these for a year and a half, and mine still look better than these. Did you buy them directly from Lake?
