Has anyone had any experience with the 1P MT900 dome trekking tent from decathlon? Looking for a tent to start off with and I’ve had my eye on this for a few weeks. I see a lot of people talk about the alpkit soloist but I’m not a fan of front entrance with no vestibule to cook in etc
Other recommendations are welcome, budget around £160 based in the uk

  1. If you search in /bikepacking, you will find plenty of discussions about the MT900 Decathlon tents.

I toured Europe with mine and had a good time. Just get an ultralight drybag instead of the stock bag.

I have the 2-person MT900 Uktralight and it’s ok. It fits (poles excluded) in a 5.8L Ortlieb fork pack.

  3. I have the 1p mt900, I haven’t used it a ton but it’s really good, cycled 2 weeks through the Scottish Highlands last summer. A bit small if you need to spend time in the tent but it’s large enough for most uses. There were some torrential downpour, when I was in Scotland last august they experienced precipitations 240% above average, the tent stayed perfectly dry inside, so no worries about waterproofness.
I stored the tent itself in a 4l fork bag and the poles in a small frame bag

  4. I slept around 120 nights in the 2P. It’s very strong and reliable. It survived a 150+ km/h storm after being ripped off the ground and fell in a rocky lake beach. The poles are bent but still going strong. The fly was ripped everywhere but Decathlon’s tent repair tape did the job well is holding up perfectly. Definitely recommend.
