That’s just the weave of the sidewall poking out to say hello. I’m assuming they’re got tubes in which case this is a non issue. You’d be surprised how shoddy a sidewall can get v before it becomes dangerous. I would simply continue to monitor then to make sure the weave doesn’t end up becoming completely exposed, in which case I would ditch them.
For peace of mind, there are always insanely good deals on bikecloset.com for high end road tires, often below wholesale. I’ve bought thousands of dollars of parts from them in the last two years. When you replace them eventually I would highly recommend Continental GP 5000 or similar. They are the gold standard of road tires, German made and very rarely experience issues like this, esp with only 1500k. Always good to check your bike but in this case I think you’re safe to continue turning those cranks for at least another 1500k. 🍻

  2. Tyres degrade with age & sadly you can’t use how long you have had tyres as a gauge how old they are because they may have been sat in a warehouse somewhere a long time before you got them.

That said the type of damage on the sidewall in the photos looks more like a result of under inflation more than degradation.
