I have a love/hate relationship with kickstands. For some bikes, they’re totally necessary and warranted.

I want one. I dislike laying the bike down.
Is that a rain jacket for your saddle?
👍

Cool, yes. Got in the way of my foot, yes. Heavy weight carried up every hill, yes. Removed, yes. 🙂

Just had a ride today where I wished I had one. Looks good!

Cool? Nah. Sometimes functional and up to personal preference, sure.
I think they are good when done correctly, so a frame that actually has a mount for one as opposed to clamping something between the chainstays. I do like the rear chainstay mounted one like you have better but I don’t trust them on my touring bike where id’ want a double footed type.
I like the click stand approach, not attached to a bicycle but serves the same function if/when you don’t have a stand available. I just rarely have my bike sitting up somewhere randomly and not chained up for a longer period. And I’ve had too many bikes blow over while using a kick stand in the past.

As someone who lives in a small apartment & doesn’t have a bike stand for maintenance, it’s a necessity. I use it on every ride & I love having one for bikepacking trips, especially loading up my panniers. 100% worth the weight.

Oh man some are usable but that type of kickstand is never ok. Too many old frames with ruined paint on the chain and seat stays :'(

I have them. The rear mount ones are nice, but seem to fail when the bike is really loaded up, so I mostly have center mount ones. Even on my gravel bike. And my classic touring bike. Not on my carbon fancy bike though! And the trike doesn’t need one.
Very pretty ride. The matching pedals and backpack is a nice quirky weird touch.
