Not soon, urgently imagine the spoke breaks while riding and binds on the frame. I almost had that happen to me.

  2. if it’s the only one I woldn’t worry, on my first bike which wasn’t really mtb but was pushing it to its limits I had ridden with as much as 5 broken spokes, worst case scenario the rim gets misaligned which is fixed when you get new spokes

Also remember that if you do risk it and allow that spoke to break, frame damage notwithstanding, it transfers, additional load onto the other 23 spokes, and therefore increases the risk of additional spoke failures/overload, at which point you might be looking at a whole wheel rebuild rather than simply replacing a single spoke so use that in your risk assessment.

Promptly ride to your favorite competent bike shop, have them change the spoke and re-true your wheel. If you know them because you trade with them regularly they will probably do it while you wait.

  5. Why not just replace it? If it breaks it will probably take other spokes with it, possibly damaging more stuff. Replacing it is hardly a big deal.
