Currently running 11 speed sram force 1 on a felt breed 20 (2019) cassette is 11-42T and chainring is 40T. Will be doing my first ultra 800km, 20,000m elevation and will be carrying quite a bit of gear i.e. tent, sleeping mat, bag and the essentials.

I'm thinking of swapping the derailleur to give me a 50T cassette and changing the chainring to 38T or 36T

Question is what rear derailleur can I put on it? Additionally, for the chainring can I put any direct mount in or is it brand specific? I think I'd want to find a 10-50T cassette but unsure if there will be any compatibility issues. Any help?

  1. Sunrace and Garbaruk are making good 11speed 50t cassettes. The latter is kind of premium.

You can mod a SRAM Rival derailleur with a Eagle NX Cage, not sure if that works with the Force derailleur too.

Depending on the terrain a 36t chainring in the front would be better, not sure in your case.
