I recently got myself a new road bike and I’m loving it! But now I’m left with my old one:

– 15-speed groupset
– Mechanical shifting
– Rim brakes
– It’s a few years old but still rides just fine

I could sell it, but I’m actually more interested in alternative ideas. For example: swapping the parts onto a steel, retro-style frame – something along the lines of a Standert – to build a fun second bike. Or maybe something even more creative.

What would you do? Anyone here ever done a build like that or have interesting suggestions?

  1. Since I use my bike almost daily for commuting, I would like a second one for the times the other is at the mechanic or has some issue.

The right answer is to sell it, but you could also make it a dedicated trainer bike, or hide the logos and use it as a commuter.
