Hi guys
This might be a dumb question but I noticed these patches on my shorts (on another pair as well) and I am wondering if this is a sign that my seat is not on the right height etc? Or is this normal use that should be expected (given that my tights are moving when pedaling)?

Most likely the issue is the actual saddle. Selle Italia has a few models that do this to bibs.
Its your thighs rubbing agains your saddle clamp of your seatpost. Changed setup/saddle/seatpost perhaps?
I can send you pictures of my assos aswell as Ciovita bibs doing it. My ciovita bibs is worse off as the rub marks goes over the chamois stitching and have to restitch it every couple of months.
