  1. I can’t tell if that one has derailleur gears, but my brompton does that if the shifter is bumped after it gets folded and is out of gear.

  2. Obviously something is preventing the rear wheel from turning. What’s preventing the rear wheel from turning?

  3. Either your chain tensioner spring has lost its tension (just replace it, about £15) or your rear hub needs a service because the pawls are sticking and not freewheeling.

    Hubs can lose oil/grease and also ingest water over time.

    From experience, it’s most likely the hub needs a service.

  4. Try releasing a tiny amount of torque from the hub cone. It’s an easy procedure: on the back wheel, opposite side of where the gears are, use a no17 wrench on the inner nut and open it (tighten it towards the frame). My bike hd the same problem and it only took a quarter of a turn. Make sure that the wheel does not start to wiggle. If you need to loosen the cone more than that, you should also loosen the outer no15 wheel mounting screw.
